The Definitive Guide: Melbourne Food

Melbourne is a cosmopolitan hub offering every food lover something special and unique. From the hundreds of incredible industrial-style cafes to the simple eateries serving up Asian, Lebanese or Ethiopian food it truly is a place where food, friends and family come together. So in honour of my wonderful city I have decided to put together a list of my absolute favourite eateries. From my local Pho place (best pho ever!) to hip wine bars and local coffee houses this list is a good way to explore the different food “scenes” in Melbourne. Buon apetito amici!

Final Words…

  • You HAVE to go to Messina, it is still one of the best ice-creams I have ever had
  • Visit Victoria Market to sample cheeses, cold cuts and incredible fresh produce
  • Try ethnic food whether it be Etiopian in Footscray, Lebanese on Sydney Rd or Vietnamese in Richmond get out there and give it a go, Melbourne is a multi-cultural place brimming with so much good food
  • Speak with locals about their favourite places to eat, Melbournian’s are a friendly bunch I tells ya (and if they ain’t then ask someone else!)
  • Get a Myki card and take the tram or train to get to the food, it’s a great way to see what local life is really like

I hope this post is informative and inspires you to eat your way through Melbourne! What’s your favourite food experience in Melbourne? Let me know! I’d love to try some new places when I head back in December 🙂
